A piece of content can have 4 different statuses :
Draft
Pending Approval
Published
Obsolete
Draft = Content that has not been published.
Pending Approval = Content that is not yet published. It is not possible to act on this content until a decision is made regarding its approval.
If approved, the content moves to the Published status.
If approval is denied, the content reverts to Draft status.
Published = Content is available and appears in training materials.
Obsolete = Refers to an older revision of the content.
Example of content found in a training
Example 1 : Obsolete Content
Michel is an employee undergoing training for Skill X. Two pieces of content are associated with this skill that Michel must view to complete his training:
Content A - (Revision 1)
Content B - (Revision 1)
Michel has reviewed Content A but has not yet reviewed Content B. However, during his training, an update was made to Content A, which then moved to Revision 2.
When accessing Michel's training, the following content will appear:
Content A Obsolete - (Revision 1) has been viewed
Content A - (Revision 2) needs to be viewed
Content B - (Revision 1) needs to be viewed
This means that we maintain a record showing Michel has viewed the first version of the content during his training, but it has since been revised. Therefore, he must review the new version.
Example 2
Michel is an employee undergoing training for Skill X. Two pieces of content are associated with this skill that Michel must view to complete his training:
Content A - (Revision 1)
Content B - (Revision 1)
Michel has not yet viewed either piece of content. However, during his training, an update was made to Content A, which then moved to Revision 2.
When accessing Michel's training, the following content will appear :
Content A - (Revision 2) needs to be viewed
Content B - (Revision 1) needs to be viewed
Unlike the previous case, Michel has not viewed the obsolete version of Content A, so no trace of Revision 1 is kept in the ongoing training, and the replacement happens directly.
